Flexible payment options

Fortnightly reducing repayment scheme
With this scheme, repayment occurs every 14 days. The principal payment is fixed throughout the loan tenure and interest reduces daily. As repayment is more frequent, you will be able to finish paying your loan sooner as well as save on interest payment.

Monthly reducing repayment scheme
With this scheme, the monthly principal payment is fixed throughout the repayment period but the monthly interest reduces every month as interest is calculated daily based on the principal outstanding balance.

Straight line repayment scheme
The monthly repayment (principal + interest) for this scheme is fixed throughout the loan tenure while the principal and interest payments vary each month as the principal outstanding balance reduces.

Eligibility

    To qualify for our home loan, you must:

  • Be a resident of Brunei Darussalam or a Permanent Resident

  • Be between 25 and 65 years of age# (Loan should terminate prior to age 65)

  • Earn a total gross monthly income of over BND1,500

  • Have your salary credited to an HSBC account

Basic Documentation Requirements

    Please bring along the following when you come to see us:

  • Identification card or passport

  • Savings/current account statements(last 6 months)

  • Salary slip (last 3 months)

  • Employer’s letter confirming salary

  • Full property valuation report from our panel of approved surveyors (within 3 months of valuation date)

  • Copy of land title deeds

  • Copy of contract quotation from an approved contractor and architect's certification (for building a house)

  • Approval letter from Town and Country Planning Unit (for building a house)

  • Copy of Sales and Purchase Agreement (for purchasing a house)

  • Certificate of Balance / Letter of Clearance from other banks (if applicable)

Fees & charges

  • One-time application fee     : BND250

  • Payout fee                          : ^1% or minimum of BND2,000, whichever is higher

  • Amendment fee                  : BND250

  • Early redemption fee

  •    Year 0 to 4                      : ^1.5% or minimum of BND2,000, whichever is higher
       Year 4 to 7                      : ^1.0% or minimum of BND500, whichever is higher
       Year 7 to 10                    : ^0.75% or minimum of BND250, whichever is higher
       Year 11 onwards           : ^0.50%or minimum of BND250, whichever is higher
  • Property valuation fee (depends on the property value)

  • Legal fee (depends on the property charge amount)

  • One-time Mortgage Reducing Time Assurance (MRTA) insurance premium

  • Stamp duties
