HSBC believes that taking care of the environment is everybody's business and being the world's leading financial institution, they have a big role to play in conserving the environment. Part of this responsibility is raising the public's awareness on the negative impact our day-to-day activities have on the environment.
Today, HSBC took a step forward in their on-going efforts to educate the public on this issue. HSBC Kids' Corner guests were bestowed the titles of "Little Earth Heroes" during an afternoon of environmental-themed activities to commemorate the international World Environment Day.
The young guests participated in activities organised by members of staff which included a show-and-tell session about endangered marine animals and the effects climate change will have on their lives. The kids also participated in a drawing and colouring competition where they are tasked to identify endangered animals and draw their own animal of choice. HSBC staff member, Eva Ng, shared with the children her experience working with dusky dolphins when she volunteered for the global nature preservation programme, Earthwatch.
The HSBC guests later took part in a handicraft-making session, where they learnt how to make penguins from recycled paper and other recyclable products. The fun-filled afternoon concluded with a prize presentation for the best drawing and each guest was awarded with an "I am an HSBC little earth hero" certificate as a souvenir of their participation.
